page 1. A deep gloom passed over this locality on Tuesday when the report circulated that one
of our most highly respected residents had died very suddenly that morning after only a few
hours of illness. The deceased , who was in his sixty sixth year, had been rather poorly for the
past two or three years from some internal trouble, but had continued his work as usual. On
Monday he had felt as well as he had done for a long time. He ate a hearty supper and had
attended to the school, but in the evening he was seized with a very severe pain. Dr. McKinnon
was summoned and he did everything possible to relieve his suffering. He did not improve any,
but gradually became worse until about nine o'clock Tuedsay morning when he passed away,
death being due to imflammation of the bowels, although the immediate cause was heart failure.
Mr Hubbard was a native of this township in which he lived all his life. He was an adherent of the
Christian Church until that denomination discontinued their services, but since then he has been
a regular attendant of the Presbyterian Church at Brougham. He is survived by his widow and
one son, Clifford, a daughter having died several years ago in early womanhood. His funeral will
take place this (Thursday) afternoon to the Brougham Cemetery. The heartfelt sympathy of the
communtiy is extended to Mrs. Hubbard and her son in their sudden bereavement.
