page 8.After several weeks of illness due to an accident in which his thigh bone was fractured,
Thomas Morrish died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. A. Burrell, on Sunday morning, in his
88th year. Mr. Morrish had been in failing health for several years and about two years ago he
passed through a serious illness. He recovered from this and had become quite strong and
active, but a few weeks ago he was knocked down by a cow inflicting injuries from which he did
not recover.His funeral took place on Tuesday afternoon to Erskine Cemetery, and was largely
attended. The deceased was a native of Devonshire, England, where he was born in 1829.
About 1855, after his marriage, he emigrated to Canada, settling in Bowmanville, where he
remained for a number of years. He afterwards moved to Pickering, where he has resided
for the past 45 years. He had six of a family, two sons and four daughters. Those who survive
are Wm. of Goderich, Wesley of Kitchener, Mrs. A Burrell of Pickering, Mrs. W. Simons of St.
Charles, Mich, and Mrs. Lyness of Saginaw, Michigan. One daughter, Mrs. W.H. Peak, died
about twenty-five years ago. He is also survived by 18 grand-children and 17 great
grandchildren.
