page 1.Early Resident of Pickering Twp. Frederick C. Barkey, PassesA leader in sports, music
and industry, Frederick C. Barkey, 77 who left Brougham with his family, when he was about 2
years old, passed away at his Fufferin St. home , Tronto, on Octoer 9th, ager a lingeing illness.
He was a Captain of the famous Riverside footall team when they were the champions of
Canada; also played with Boston professional team. Retiring from football, he joined the
Governor-Generals's Body Guard Band, and soon became leader, a position he held for many
years. He was employed with the Stewart-Hartshorn Co. Ltd. for 53 yers, the last 25 as Genreral
Manager until he retired last spring.His wife suffered from a stroke and was an invalid over nine
years until her death on June 29th.He us survived by one daughter, three sons, and three
brothers and two sisters.Internebt took place at Prospect Cemetery, Toronto.
