William Anderson breathed his last at his cosy residence a short distance north of here, at the
age of 74 years. Deceased was born in Perthshire, Scotland, in 1823, and came to Canada in
1854, and three years later settled on the farm where he died. Thus it will be seen that he was a
resident of our neighborhood for forty years, a man of uprightness and generous in character,
ever ready to lend a helping hand to a fellow in need, a loving father and a tender and devoted
husband. He leaves a widow, three sons and four daughters, of which one son and two
daughters are married. The whole neighborhood deeply regrets the removal of so worthy a
citizen, and all join in sympathy for the bereaved ones. The remains were interred at Ershine
cemetery on Sunday morning, after which a very appropriate sermon was preached in the
church by Rev. John Chisholm.
