(Whitevale Correspondent)
There passed away in the village of Stoufville, a former Whitevale citizen, or rather a citizen
of the Whitevale vicinity, in the person of Mr. George Pugh. Mr. Pugh died quite suddenly
on Friday January 24. Before moving to Stoufville, Mr. and Mrs. Pugh lived on a farm south
and east of Whitevale, and their home was always one of open hospitality for anyone who
called there. Your correspondent remembers many happy times at the Pugh home, Mr. and
Mrs. Pugh attended the Whitevale Bapist Church and were vitally interested in all branches of
that church and its work as they were in community welfare, for the Women's Institute of
Whitevale held many a meeting there too.
Upon going to Stoufville Mr. and Mrs. Donald Pugh took over the farm which has since been
sold, and now Donald lives near Bowmanville. The funeral was held on Monday from the late
residence to Whitevale Union Cemetery for interment. Besides his son surviving are: a
daughter (Lily) Mrs. A. H. Smith, Oshawa, and his wife, the former Maud Wilbur.
