Mike Starr, Matt Dymond Hosts At Old Fashioned Picnic Saturday
An old-fashioned picnic with all the races, games, entertainment and fun that a
family outing can provide is on the agenda for this coming Saturday (Aug. 23).
Pony rides, political names and picnic baskets are the order of the day at Greenwood
Park, five miles west of Brooklin on Number 7 Highway, as the Progressive Conservative
Association of Ontario County sponsor their third annual outing for friends throughout the
area.
A number of well-known people in Federal and Provincial politics will be guess including
Hon. Mike Starr, Federal Minister of Labour and Hon Matt Dymond,
Provincial Minister of Transport who re-present the area in the House of
Commons and the Ontario Legislature. Also on hand to represent the sports world will be
wrestler Lord Athol Leyton. A full programme of races, pony rides and games will be
arranged for the children while older picnickers can devote themselves
to the Federal vs. Provincial ball game, the horseshoe championship and other
get acquainted activities. The programme gets under way at 2 p. m. and everyone is
reminded to bring a picnic basket. Free coffee, tea, pop and ice cream will be available.
Greenwood Park is one of the area's most popular picnic spots with slides and swings
for the children, a fine swimming pool, covered picnic tables and other modern facilities.
