HomeMy WebLinkAbout1377Photocopy of an obituary from the Pickering News, April 15, 1892, page 8.Hector Beaton,
one of the best known and most highly respected residents of this township passed away on
Tuesday morning at the ripe old age of 91 years. Mr Beaton was a native of Mull, Argyleshire,
Scotland, and came to this country when but a young man. His name is inseperable with the
history of this township during the past forty years. Previous to his appointment as township
clerk our municapal records were crude, but from that date upon which he assumed such duties
these recods are a credit to our Township. His business dealing both public and private, were
prompt fearless and just, and he passed away without a single enemy. This earth is blest with
few such men. The funeral took place from his late residence, Whtevale, on Thursday and was
attended by a number of friends and admirers. The interment took place at the Methodist
Cemetery east of that village. The name of Hector Beaton shall long live to be reverenced in the
minds and hearts of Pickering people.
