HomeMy WebLinkAbout1372Photocopy of an obituary for James Logan, taken from the Pickering News, dated February 25,
1887, page 8.Another Old Resident Gone.We are again called upon this week to chronicle the
death of one of our lodest residents - Mr. James Logan, whose demise took place at his late
residence on Sunday last, of disease of lungs and heart in the 77th year of his age. Deceased
was born in Caterline, Scotland, in 1810. In 1884 he was married to Miss Milne, and with his
wife came to Canada in the same year, settling on lot 9, Broken Front, Pickering township,
where they continued to reside until 1873, when they moved to their present residence in this
village. Deceased was widely known throughout the township, and highly esteemed for his
many excellent traits of character, being of a kindly disposition and generous in his treatment
of those less fortunate than himself. We think we can safely say he had not an enemy in the
entire village. He leaves an aged partner and several children to mourn his death. The funeral
took place on Wednesday last, to the Methodist cemetery, the remains being followed to their
last resting place by a very large number of relatives and friends. The News extends its
sympathy to the bereaved.
