servces were held on Saturday afternoon last for Armen Gregory Chapman, who passed
away on Thursday at Sunnybrook Hostpital, after a lingering illness, his faith and preparedness
being the admiration of his many Christian friends. He was 38.Armen had lived in Pickering
most of his life, having attended the Pickering Schools and Whitby Highschool. A member of
Pickering United Church he has been active in the Y.P.U.; and also in the former Tennis Club.
During the late war as Flying Office, Squadron 434 RCAF, he was shot down and became a
prisoner of war in Germany being subjected to the brutal inflictions of the German military.On his
return he entered partnership merchandising as M.S. Chapman and Son.Surviving are: his wife,
the former Mary Choquette; two daughters Rosemary and Lucille, and father , M.S. Chapman
and Mrs. ChapmanService was conducted by Rev. A.E. Young, assisted by Rev. H.G. Crozier
and Rev. E.G. Robinson, with interment in the Friends Cemetery, Pickering. Service was held
from the McEachnie Funeral Chapel.
