place suddnely Monday afternoon of Miss Jessie Rorke, about six months after the death of her
only sister, Miss Louise Rorke.Miss Jessie Rorke suffered a slight stroke a few months ago and
has not been able to leave her home since that time but was believed to be gaining, though
slowly.Miss Edith Murray, who has lived with the Misses Rorke for many years, had been down in
the village during the afternoon and on her return found Miss Rorke lying on the floor.Born in
Thornbury, Ont., Miss Rorke received her eduction there and in Collingwood. She was librarian
at Weston and later at the Beaches public library. After joining the staff of Central public library,
she was head of the circulation department at the time of her returement in 1945.She and her
sister came out to Pickering about sixteen years ago when they built their pretty cottage in the
village. They were both very popular and well-liked by all.A member of the Society of Friends
and was also active in the local Women's Institute, and also of the local Women's Club.A private
service was held Wednesday evening at the home, with interment the following day in the family
plot in Thornbury.
